Credit Repair Solutions- Getting Credit Cards after Debt Relief
(Epic Debt Relief is NOT a credit repair company nor is it associated with any. The following information is for educational purposes only.)
Consumers with bad credit and those who have just completed debt relief programs understand that getting credit cards can be a very challenging task. Trying to get back on track is nearly impossible when lenders shy away from you because of your less than exemplary credit history. Lenders see that you are in debt or have recently completed a debt relief program, and tend to want nothing to do with you. Those creditors that are willing to give you a chance are probably offering astronomical interest rates that you couldn't imagine dealing with. Even worse are the consumers with no checking or savings accounts that are attempting to open new credit accounts, but all of these people have options.
To get started, you must understand that you need to improve your credit to a point where you can be seen as a reliable credit user in the future. That might seem nearly impossible when no one will give you a chance, but there are cards out there that you can use. Consider getting secured cards, so long as the fees are low or there are no excessive fees, or perhaps try department store credit cards or gas cards. These are the easiest forms of credit to obtain when you are recovering from a bad experience with credit. The new credit accounts that you open along with the types of cards that you have make up about a fifth of your credit score, so it's important that you take the time to get a variety of cards if you can.
This doesn't mean that you need 10 different credit accounts with different types of creditors. If you have even just two or three different cards, you'll be back on the track to success in no time. Just make your payments on time and use the cards when you can afford to instead of cash, rather than spending them like they are extra cash. There are more options beyond gas and department store cards, but you will have to find which ones you are eligible for. Keep in mind that your credit history accounts for a smaller percentage of your overall score, which means that you need to make those payments on time and start rebuilding your history to improve your score.
There are secured or pre-loaded credit cards that you can obtain without having a bank account, no matter what your credit looks like. This card works by setting a limit based on how much the consumer deposits into the account. If the consumer wants a $500 credit line, they send the lender $500 as collateral or funding for the account. Then, the card is used and paid monthly just like a regular credit card. Anyone can use these cards because if they default, the lender simply takes their deposit to pay off the balance. These are your best options when it comes to rebuilding credit after debt relief or with bad credit.
